talls at von maur (US)

I don't go to the mall much because I figure I can never find clothes there and just assume I have to special order everything. But a friend tipped me off that Von Maur stores have some longer pants and behold, it's true! I walked right into a store last night, bought some tribal brand slacks to wear to work, 36" inseam for under $60. maybe other stores carry the brand too, who knows, but there are von maurs all over the midwest. just thought I'd pass it along, always a rare treat to find pants that I can actually try on!

Sleeves! uh, help?

Hi all.

Newbie here, 5 ft 11 tall woman from the UK, and it's coming to the time of year when clothes shopping goes from hard to nigh impossible.

There are a few places in the uk that have figured out long trousers now (though I have trouble as most of them don't do plus size); what there don't seem to be are many places where I can buy tops, coats and knitwear that don't leave an awkward inch of wrist poking out of the end. So far it's Long Tall Sally and ... well, that's it.

A lot of my workwear is starting to get quite shabby, and I need warm, smart, non-dowdy replacements. Or failing that, anything with sleeves that are proper long sleeves, as my casual wardrobe is also slightly foxed.

Fellow uk tall women, where do you go? all suggestions gratefully received!

Name: Rachel

Age: 27

Occupation: Transcriber

Height: 6'0

Clothes: I got really excited the other day at Target when I found jeans that covered my ankles. I bought them right away! Usually clothes shopping is a disappointment when pants and sleeves don't fit the way they should. It seems that most clothing manufacturers base their clothes on the standard height of womens. It's good for them, annoying for me.

Best thing about being tall? I can reach things that other people can't. It's come in handy at the supermarket, for myself and others. I used to work at a craft store and I was the only employee tall enough to reach the top shelves! And I don't have to crane my neck to kiss my husband, who is 6'1". :)

Sleeves..

Tall women.. Do you ever look at cute LONG SLEEVED shirts, go to try it on, and it doesn't even touch your wrist?

That's one of the things that fries me.

Name: Erica
Age: 23
Height: 5'8"
Clothes: I have been on an online kick for awhile, so I've been checking out urbanoutfitter, forever 21, and DSW. I used to be able to buy clothes at Hollister, but not anymore. The jeans might fit in the waist, but their longs aren't long enough. I usually order my shoes online becuause my shoe size is now an 11 (9 UK), and they never seem to go past 9 in the stores for some odd reason.
Best Thing About Being Tall: Well, I was 5'7" when I was 10, teased all the time. Called the "Jolly Green Giant," and "Sasquatch." I hated being tall when I was young. The only good thing I think is being told I should model, and being able to hug my short friends and accuse them of trying to motor boat me (tehe).

new world record for the world's shortest person

Figured I'd post this just in case someone accuses us of not loving or appreciating short people!

At less than 22 inches tall, Chandra Bahadur Dangi was declared the new world's shortest person this week:

He's like the opposite of us...

Congratulations, really short guy!

Hello all! I have a question for tall ladies (if you're about) on the buying of shoes.

Basically I'm a UK size 9 foot (US ladies 11), and I'm looking for stylish flat-soled in unusual colours or designs. Most of the shoe shops I know that include some size 9 styles tend only to do them in black or beige, and in banal classic shapes, but I want ... oh, I dunno, a pair of bright red Mary Janes or something. Or teal, something a bit unusual.

Any suggestions? My budget is unfortunately small, and I have a pretty narrow foot, so the shoes in places like Evans are completely out of the question.

Negative Documentary?

I found a trailer for a documentary called "TALL GIRLS - A Story Of Giants" on youtube and I'm a little unsettled about the message it's perpetuating. At one point a doctor says a women could never be happy with a body size of 190cm (roughly 6'3"). I'm 6'3" and perfectly happy with my body.

I don't know if I'm reading this the wrong way, but does anyone else find this offensive? For the most part the women interviewed seem to be self-deprecating.
